Do the things you keep saying you’ll do.

Put them in a list, tick them off, and every day gets a score. 4 out of 5 is 80%, and it’s surprisingly hard to go to bed with 80% when the fifth one takes ten minutes. That little itch is the whole trick.

Try a day

Every day in HeyTask gets one number: what you finished, divided by what you planned for today. Here’s an example Tuesday. Tick things off and watch the number change.

75%

Solid, with room to grow.

3 done ÷ 4 planned today = 75%

75% or more is a good day: your streak goes to 13.

Also in this plan: Call grandma, on Sundays. It isn’t planned for Tuesday, so it can’t lower Tuesday’s score.

  1. 01Only today counts

Something that isn’t planned for today can’t lower today’s score. A rest day really is a rest day.

  2. 02Weekly goals count toward the week

If it’s “3× a week”, Friday is fine. Skipping it on Tuesday costs you nothing.

  3. 03Good days grow your streak

Reach your line and your streak goes up by one. Ill or away? Mark it as time off and those days don’t count.

Why habits usually don’t stick

It’s rarely a lack of willpower. Most of the time it’s one of these three.

  1. 1

    You can’t see it working

Every day gets a score, so you see progress tonight.

  2. 2

    One bad day ruins it

A missed day costs a bit of percentage, not your whole streak.

  3. 3

    Nobody notices when you skip

Friends see your score tonight, and that’s usually enough.

Your sky

Your star sign, lit up by your tasks.

I wanted something nicer to look at than a progress bar. So your dashboard draws the constellation of your birthday, and every task you tick off lights one more star. No horoscope, it just looks good.

Your sign comes from your birthday, which is also how we check you’re 13 or older. Nobody else sees it.

With friends

Easier when someone notices.

Add a friend and you see each other’s score and streak every day. Skipping is easy when nobody would know. With a friend in HeyTask, somebody would.

HeyTask vs other apps

Week three is the hard part.

That’s when other habit apps lose you. One missed task and the streak is gone, so why bother tomorrow. HeyTask is made for exactly that week.

  1. You have an off day

Other apps: Your streak goes back to 0.

HeyTask: A good day is 75%, not 100%. 4 of 5 done keeps your streak going.

  2. You wonder if it’s working

Other apps: A row of checkmarks. Better than last week? No idea.

HeyTask: Every day gets a score and your week adds up. You see it getting better.

  3. Nobody would notice

Other apps: It stays between you and your phone.

HeyTask: Friends see your score tonight, so you go anyway. Never your tasks.

  4. You need something to aim for

Other apps: Just another day. No finish line.

HeyTask: A free 90-day challenge, four times a year. Finish with 70% and the badge is yours.

  5. You don’t want to pay yet

Other apps: Often a 7-day trial, then a paywall. Or ads.

HeyTask: Free isn’t a trial: 15 tasks, streaks, friends and challenges. No ads, ever.

Questions people ask

All questions
Do I need an iPhone?+

No. In your browser at heytask.app you can plan your day, tick off tasks and join HeyTask 90 for free, on any phone or computer, also Android. Your dashboard and calendar on the web come with Pro. The iPhone app adds reminders and Apple Health.

Is HeyTask free?+

Yes, and it isn’t a trial. Free gives you up to 15 tasks in 3 groups, your daily score, streaks, reminders (in the iPhone app), friends, the HeyTask 90 challenges and badges. Pro is €3.99 a month, €24.99 a year or €59.99 once, and removes the limits.

I’ve tried habit apps before and always quit. Why would this be different?+

Most people quit in week two or three. The excitement is gone, one missed day breaks the streak, and the app starts to feel like a judge. HeyTask is built for that moment: a missed day only costs some percentage, weekly goals can still be made later in the week, and time off keeps your streak when you’re ill. It won’t do the work for you, but it makes quitting a lot less tempting.

Who can see my tasks?+

Only you. Friends you accept see your first name, your scores, your streak and your badges, never your tasks. There are no ads in HeyTask and your data is never sold. You can delete everything yourself in Settings.

Why I made HeyTask

I’ve always been fascinated by software — not just using it, but building it, shaping it, and turning an idea into something people can actually use.

I created HeyTask with a simple belief: good software should be accessible to everyone. You shouldn’t have to pay a premium every month just to organize your day, build better habits, or understand your own progress.

Start with three things.

Not ten. Three things you’d be proud of doing every day. Make the plan now, tick off the first one tonight and see where you are in a week. It’s free, and if it’s not for you, you delete your account and that’s that.
